Privacy Policy

This policy explains how HALF/Q (including the HALF/STORY experience and HALF/STORY Lens) handles personal information. HALF/Q is developed by RTECHO LAB PTY LTD (ABN 14 666 363 382), Australia ("we", "us"). Contact: hello@rtecholab.com.

What we collect

• Email address — if you save your Lens or sign in, used for passwordless email-link sign-in and your saved account.
• Guest identifier — a temporary anonymous identifier created when you play without an account.
• Your choices — your first and final call on each story.
• Story history — completed stories, rounds and progress, and which story you said changed you most.
• Skipped stories — so a skipped story is not shown again for a cooldown period.
• Limited interaction timing — capped measures of how long a choice took.
• Authentication, session and security data — needed to keep you signed in and protect the service.
• Product funnel events — see "Product analytics" below.
• Support emails — anything you choose to send us.

Fictional scenarios

All HALF/STORY scenarios are fictional composites. Please don't submit real personal information about yourself or others — story submission is not offered.

Your first story as a guest

You can play your first story without an account. That creates a temporary guest identity and history. If you save your Lens with a new email, that history stays with your new account. If you use an email that already has an account, our servers decide what carries over and avoid duplicating stories you have already completed; the temporary guest account is then removed.

HALF/STORY Lens

HALF/STORY Lens runs on our servers. It uses your interaction history and broad, non-sensitive story-response signals (for example, whether context changed your call) to choose which story to show next. It may use abstract story dimensions internally.

The Lens does not attempt to infer your race, religion, political opinions, health status, sexuality, nationality or ethnicity, disability, or any other protected or sensitive trait. It is not a psychological, clinical, diagnostic, employment or credit assessment. Proprietary scoring and adaptive story metadata stay on our servers.

Product analytics

We record a limited set of first-party events on our own backend: story and round progression (for example, a story started, skipped or completed, or a round completed), saving your Lens, engagement with Lens features (such as viewing My Lens or choosing a challenge), and sharing (a share tapped, a shared story opened or completed). We use them for product testing, reliability and improving the experience. Events may be associated with your guest or account identifier and contain only small technical details such as round position. They do not include your email, story answers, raw IP address or full browser user-agent. We do not use a third-party analytics SDK, and story answers are not used for third-party advertising.

Why we use information

To authenticate you, keep your history across devices, sequence stories adaptively, avoid repetition, keep the service secure and prevent abuse, respond to support requests, and improve usability.

Service providers

We use Supabase for authentication, database and backend services, and Lovable and related hosting infrastructure to run the app. These providers may process data in the jurisdictions where they operate.

International processing

Because our providers operate internationally, your information may be stored or processed outside Australia. We choose providers we consider reputable and use reasonable measures to protect your information.

Browser storage

We use technically necessary browser storage for sign-in sessions and short-lived app state (such as a one-time merge reference). If you played an earlier version on this device, we may offer a one-time import of that local progress. Your browser is not the canonical record of your saved Lens history — our servers are.

Sharing

When you share a story, the link and text include only the scenario opening. Your own answer is included only if you explicitly choose to include it. Once shared, content is outside HALF/Q's control.

Retention and your controls

• We keep your history while your account exists, unless you reset or delete it.
• Reset history clears your rounds, answers, completed stories, skipped stories and Lens profile, but keeps your account.
• Delete account removes your app data and account, subject to limited backup, legal or technical retention.
• Guest accounts and merge references are temporary and expire or are cleaned up.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards, including server-side logic and access controls, but no system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Access, correction and deletion

You can ask about accessing, correcting or deleting your information by emailing hello@rtecholab.com. Requests are handled subject to applicable law and identity verification.

Children

HALF/Q is not designed to collect sensitive information from children. A parent or guardian who has concerns can contact us at hello@rtecholab.com.

Advertising

HALF/Q does not currently sell personal information or use story answers for third-party advertising.

Changes

We may update this policy. We will change the "last updated" date and, where changes are significant, take reasonable steps to let you know.
